Malcolm and Patsy Sharing Some Memories With You

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Dad and I went to Chico tonight. I had a Chico Storehouse Meeting. We found out there are shortages of food all over now. Wheat, rice and flour are in short supply. I bought a can of hot chocolate mix, which is great and we had ice cream sundaes at the conclusion. It was fun and very educational.

We spent part of our day shopping to get our food storage more complete. We found great buys in Wal-Mart and stocked up on canned fruit, beans, milk, rice and flour. It looks so good to have the shelves full.

Calvin's Baseball Game

We spent the afternoon watching Calvin's baseball game. He is just learning, but did great. He hit a ball so we were all excited. His team won which was super. It was a close game and very exciting for all of us especially Dad and Grandad!

Jumping Spider

Malcolm Found this spider on our tree today. We found out it is a jumping spider and the most common spider for spider bites. They have two sets of eyes and geen spots which are the mouth. Very interesting critter. If you click on the picture you can see a larger version

We love our little home and the beauty of the area we live in. We are filling in the front with flowers and shrubs to bring color to our corner. Malcolm installed a flag pole which he raises and lowers the flag every day. We had a warm summery day today and had Paige over for the afternoon. She is such an angel and so much fun. We are the typical grandparents - ours are the best!

We enjoyed the General Conference of our Church this week. We have a new President, Thomas S. Monson and two new counselors. It was a touching, beautiful and humorous talk from President Monson. We also spent some time watching some good uplifting videos after conference and enjoyed a quiet dinner together and a walk in the evening. Great Day!

One of my favorite quotes:Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he or she has been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration. Most jobs are often more dull than otherwise. “life is like an old-time rail journey...delays, side tracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling burst of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.” Jenkin Lloyd Jones

I am treating this blog like a journal to keep track of our lives and what we are doing. I am including above a favorite quote that keeps things in perspective.
Dad and I have had a full week of activities. Dad is power washing the fence so it looks new and better yet it is really clean. We live in a dust bowl with new construction so we have quite a job keeping things dust free.

We spent Tuesday as a day out. We went to the Sacramento temple, had lunch and a leisurely ride home and lots of rest when we got home. I also called many of our children an caught up on what is going on in their lives. We so enjoy our children and their families. This is our greatest joy in life next to each other.

Patsy spent the day helping with lunch for a group of 70 missionaries from Northern California who really appreciated the dinner and sang a beautiful song for us written by a missionary in 2000. I had a lot of help and enjoy the visit and had fun fixing lunch for them. Dad has an old school friend from Sonoma that we have met and had lunch with in Chico. We are inviting them over on the 15th to have lunch at our home and visit with them. We all have a lot in common. She is a home ec person and her husband is an outdoor person who studies birds.
