Cake

This was the Relief Society cake with raspberry filling made for the humanitarian project

Humanitarian Project

Our Stake Relief Society took on a Humanitarian Project of quilts, hygiene kits, baby kits, school kits and many others. We all donated materials and got some funds donated to complete the projects. Yesterday we gathered about 125 women and had a short program, then in 40 minutes packed 100 boxes. Afterwards we shared in the wonderful snacks and dessert as a reward for those who attended and helped package up our efforts. It was an astounding sight to see all that was done. Much appreciation to all who made it possible!

Marietta's Visit

Our friend, Marietta has come to visit from Minnesota. We have a friend, Sara Purvis who is being married Saturday so we doubled up the wedding and a visit too. We all lived in Fairfield for many years and have developed a great friendship. We have been to Minnesota and they have been here. We have had such a good visit and eaten out, gone shopping and sat around the fire pit and visited. What fun we are having!

Pennington Park Ribbon Cutting

We attended the ribbon cutting of our new Pennington Park this evening. The mayor asked Malcolm to participate so he did. We had a picnic and enjoyed visiting with people in our subdivision and from town. This is such a nice big park.

Humanitarian

We have been working on humanitarian projects at Church for the past few months. We have completed 116 quilts and numberous hygiene and school kits. It has been such a privilege to make these thing for people who have suffered and feel blessed to participate! Below are some sample of the quilts made by many sisters!

Temple

With some of the negative information on temples, the following link is a postive reminder of the beautiful purposes of our LDS Temples:

Smores!

We tried out our firepit tonight with Amanda and Tyler. We made smores and enjoyed the flame and warmth in the perfect evening. We think we are going to get a lot of use from this nice set. The kids had a ball roasting marshmallows!

Mark's Birthday

We invited our neighbor, Mark Nielsen and his girls over for his birthday and cooked hot dogs, hamburgers salad, beans and a birthday cake. They really enjoyed the dinner and the weather was perfect so we ate outside. They loved the fountain & watching the birds from our patio. It was fun to have them over!

Alex's visit

Thanks to Amanda for the picture of her and Alex!We just had a great visit with Alex and his girlfriend, Lisa today. We just talked and visited with Amanda, looked at pictures, toured the house and went for Pizza in our local Pizza resturant. It was so fun and Alex is so delightful. I am particularly happy because I missed seeing him when he got off the plane from his mission because of a broken leg. We spent the entire afternoon catching up and just enjoyed them being here.

JT's first birthday picture

We just got Amy & Trent's little boy's(JT) 1st birthday picture today. He is just a darling little boy and we love the picture! Thank you Amy & Trent!!

Aspen Trees

In Relief Society, we have been planning a humanitarian activity making quilts, caps, school kits and hygiene kits. When we visited each Relief Society to encourage attendance, we shared a story about the Aspen tree and how it begins from the roots instead of seeds because the seeds don't stay nourished long enough to sprout. They are amazing trees as an entire grove may actually be one large organism. Even if they are burned above ground, the root system is strong and will sprout soon after. Our lives can be like the roots of these trees as we give strength to others through giving and we help each other get through the storms of life. Perhaps our giving will encourage those who have been hit by awful storms to resprout their hope an faith. It is so satisfying to be involved in such a wonderful project!

Blooming Cactus

No, it is not Christmas, but my Christmas Cactus is blooming in March. There are four new blooms. The other half of the plant bloomed around Thanksgiving.

Quiet Week

We have had a quiet week. I was busy at Church Sunday most of the day but had a crock pot dinner when we got home. Dad mowed the lawn today and we visited Amanda and saw two quilt tops she made - one for the humanitarian program and did a nice job of patchwork. I cleaned out my pantry and cooked fry and rice for dinner.
