Christmas Eve

Shirts - gifts from Todd & Billie from Tillamook cheese country ( Patsy's says Sharp and Malcolm's says Naturally Aged)
We have a tradition of having whoever can come to our home for Christmas Eve ( Val, Mike, Brian, Dan, Amanda and families this year) - this way all of our children can be home with their children for Christmas morning. It has worked well for many years and everyone seems to enjoy the dinner and the last couple of years there is a white elephant gift exchange which brings lots of excitement and fun for everyone. The girls have organized it and made up the rules...it was so much fun watching the laughter, antics and fun they all have. We had a delicious ham, tri tip, sour cream potatoes, fruit salad, green salad, rolls and lots of Christmas goodies. Oh, and the family favorite is orange/pineapple/banana crush with a squirt of 7 up. We took the food down to Amanda's where there was more room to eat this year - thanks to Tyler and Amanda. Everyone contributes to the food so it is just wonderful and delicious! Thank you to all of our children for their help, support and yummy contributions! We know it was a long ride for each family, but we are so grateful for your willingness to travel to our home. We are blessed and appreciative for our very special children, their spouses and our grandchildren. We missed Todd, Amy and Russ and their families who could not join us, but talked on the phone to them. We love you all and hope for a wonderful and successful new year for each of you!!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all of our family and friends! We cherish this season of the Savior when many are moved to think of others and make life a little sweeter....that is one of the best tributes to our Jesus Christ. http://www.youtube.com/v/Z_ypUnnqr8Y&autoplay=0 - Enjoy this video which was sent to me by a good friend. We express our love and appreciation to you all!

Friends & Omelets

We enjoyed a wonderful brunch with our friends, Jack and Mary today. We wanted to do something special and different so we made ziplock omelets. It is really fun because we had dishes with cheese, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, chives, bacon, etc. You put two eggs in a freezer ziplock bag, shake it and add whatever you like and shake it again..then make certain the air is out, then put in a pot of boiling water for 13 minutes. It turns out perfect. Anyway, we had a wonderful morning and shared family pictures, genealogy info, Christmas goodies and just had a great day with them.

Spanish Christmas carol

We attended the ward Christmas party Friday evening with dinner and entertainment. One of the numbers was this mens group that our son-in-law Tyler sang with. They sang a Christmas carol in Spanish. It was so good! Thanks to Nikki for the photo..

New Cast

Yesterday, Malcolm & I made our journey to Martinez to have my broken leg checked. It is healing, but needed a new cast for another month. It was a long day but in 2 hours, we saw the Dr. twice, got X-rays and a new cast installed! We were both weary last night, but attended our ward Christmas dinner afterwards! Malcolm is a trooper for taking me all over and being an excellent nurse! My children and grandchildren will begin a new autograph project now ...that part has been fun!

Christmas Decor

These snowbabies are special gifts from family and friends that have been collected over the years and remind me of Alaska!

These Smowmen light up at night & grandkids love them.
It is always so fun to decorate for Christmas Holidays. However, this year we are doing less...some of our favorites are snowmen and snowbabies.

Thanksgiving

Deb & Brian

Val and Amanda
Grandma Weston
Michael & Annette

Grammy & Mason
We had a super Thanksgiving with about 26 attending. Everyone brought food and shared in helping and serving each other. After we ate, Dad read a story called the Thanksgiving Bowl to the children. We had heard it one the radion and thought it was great! What a blessing to have some of our children and for those from afar who called and shared their spirit with us ...Dad, Todd, & Amy.

Turkey Preparation

This year, Malcolm prepared the turkey for baking. I was in the wings helping with some ideas and with chopping some veggies for dressing. He did an admirable job...first time around. We are waiting for the yummy results!!

Mason

Yesterday, Amanda, Tyler and their children came over for a visit. Mason found and owned the wheelchair and yelled if anyone went near the chair. It was a hoot and fun for us but not for Mom and Dad.

Elder Weston - Return with Honor

On Saturday, November 15, 2008 our eldest grandchild, Elder Alex Weston returned from the New Jersey, Morristown, Spanish Mission. This is at the passenger waiting area of the Oakland Airport with Mom, Mauri, Elder Weston (he would be reasled on Sunay), Brother Miles, and the happy Grandpa.

Dad, Mike, Elder Weston and Brother, Miles at Oakland Airport. Mike had flown to New Jersey to pick up Alex

Happy Grandpa with Elder Weston. We are disappointed that Grandma could not be with us...Patsy was really looking forward to this reunion, but unfortunately on Thursday had broken her leg. These pictures and Alex's love for his grandma will have to suffice for now.

Patsy's Big Break! (It's her turn to be babied!)

Yesterday, November 13 while Patsy was gassing up the car, she slipped and broke her leg. (OUCH). We didn't know it was broken at the time so it was iced and wrapped. This morning the leg was in pain...we went to ER, X-Rays were taken, and the determination of a Distal Fracture of the right Fibula. After a painful placing of her foot in the proper alignment, a split soft cast was applied and here we are. Follow up will occur at our health plan in Martinez.

We have moved Patsy's office to a more suitable place, and, as you can see, she hasn't missed a beat!

Enrichment Meeting

Today we had an Enrichment Meeting for all the ladies at Church. We were all making some gifts for Christmas. There were cards, gift wrap and vinyl letter on ceramic tiles. There were many sayings, but I chose family. It was so fun, but took quite a lot of time to complete - well worth it though! Below is the one I completed for our home.

Malcolm was encouraged to apply for an appointment on the Planning Commission in Live Oak. He filled out the paper work, submitted it and attended the City Council Meeting last night. There were four applicants who presented themselves - when they concluded, Malcolm was appointed to the Commission. Today he had his swearing in and is taking a couple of courses that are required. I am so pleased and think he will be an asset as he has had quite a lot of experience working with cities and personnel in different agencies. This opportunity will be good, as he has the time and interest to be helpful in our community.

California Election

Malcolm and I did an absentee ballot yesterday and delivered it to the Registrar of voters. It is nice to have time to study and fill it out at home so there is no rush. We are thankful to live in a free country and do hope the people and propositions voted on will be positive for us all.
